I'll add an experience in New York -- years ago at a cafe in a Barnes and Noble, I noticed that the outlets were plugged. The manage explained they did that to keep people from staying too long at a table. I get why store do this, but often the people who stay often do get that second coffee or danish which translate into needed sales to stay open. Coffeehouses must have a balance of new and old customers to stay open. It's not an absolute to push people out in every instance.
