Libraries are the best incubator substitutes for small businesses

Are you starting a business but feel unsure where to work? Try a library first to gather your best ideas rather than the local Starbucks

I’ve used libraries for years for quiet spaces “away from the digital office” and for strategic thinking.

I mentioned libraries in a post about creating a time buffer in your writing and in your business. Libraries are terrific places to develop your plans and should be part of your resources if you offer services online, planning a startup, or need a place to gather a few people together.

They are also terrific for refining New Year’s goals. The start of a new year brings new hope as people make plans for the year ahead. But it would help if you had working spaces to refine those ideas into plans and tasks without disruption.

Libraries were designed for this. They provide an environment dedicated to studying and reflecting without background music, espresso machines, and other noises that can become noisy enough to be a distraction. For tasks that come up in business — creating media content, editing video, writing a blogpost, or creating a program — the removed distractions can help small business owners or teams focus on material for the business and better manage projects so that they are delivered to customers well.
