Thoughts on what makes a good side hustle
There are a lot of choices for earning income. Not every choice is a good one. Choose well.
The buying power in the current economy has shifted to where many people must consider using more than one source of income. Homes are in short supply, making them expensive, while the average transaction price of a car has exceeded $45,000. Thus, everyone is looking to build an income to live on. The concept of side hustles alongside their full-time job has grown in prominence, as well as the choice to operate multiple side hustles.
Side hustles are just a second job, a concept — aka moonlighting — that has always existed. People moonlight to build skills or gain a few extra dollars to cover bills. Today there are a multitude of side hustle options, way more than when the phrase moonlighting was first coined. A side hustle can be any form — a full-time job, temporary contract, or freelance work.
Among entrepreneurs, the idea of a side hustle is romanticized as a way to escape an unwanted job while developing the growth of sales and income from the side hustle. The successful adoption of Uber and DoorDash made side hustles popular. People were able to take advantage of those services to earn money making deliveries and transporting people around.
