It’s been a fast year for Quarto. Two updates this year added significant upgrades to the document library. The updates come on top of the fact that Quarto effectively replaced Markdown in R programming.

The latest version, Quarto 1.6 offers more content refinement on top of this year’s changes. You can find the current release on the download page.

Brand.yml

The first big change is Brand.yml, a brand information element, using a YAML file format to indicate the same look across the pages of a Quarto. The purpose is to gather brand logos, colors, fonts, and typographic choices in one location so that your document can have a cohesive look. Doing this also ensures your documents support your company’s brand guidelines, making the document meet publishing standards set by your business.

To activate the in a YAML file , you need to set up a YAML chunk — like you would for inserting an R, Julia, or Python chunk to display code. To do so, you create your Quarto document like you would in RStudio or Positron.
