Many times people send an invoice where it correctly states the amount due and for what services are being issued as well as the usual contact information. But some people send invoices as a PDF without having any payment links within the invoice to let someone pay right then and there. This is a major mistake.

A PDF with no payment link in it is no different than a piece of paper. It creates an extra manual step — contacting the client to complete payment. The missing link creates extra work in the business to actually receive the payment. This inefficiency may not matter if you need a chance to upsell a service, or gain feedback. But many times people open their invoice pdfs on a smartphone or tablet, on the go, and where they have access to a digital wallet. This means they can pay much more quickly than someone who has to pull out a card from a purse or wallet, contact your business while seated at a desktop computer, read the card numbers to a customer service agent over the phone or through a chat, and then pay.
